Discover Complex Fantasy World with Chrestomanci 6 Books Collection by Diana Wynne Jones

Chrestomanci 6 Books Collection Pack Diana Wynne Jones

Titles in this set

Charmed Life

When Cat and Gwendolen Chant were orphaned after a tragic steamboat accident, everyone knew how they had survived drowning when their parents had not: Gwendolen was a witch, and witches can’t drown. The children, supported by generous donations from the town, were sent to live with Mrs. Sharp, who was a certified witch herself and wanted nothing more than to facilitate Gwendolen’s burgeoning magical talents. Gwendolen, whose pretty face and charming manner are thoroughly betrayed by her nasty personality, spends most of her time attending magic lessons with a shady local wizard and practicing her spells on her unfortunate brother. Cat has no magic—or so he believes—until a visit with a fortune teller brings the dashing and mysterious enchanter Chrestomanci into their lives. The Chant siblings are transferred into Chrestomanci’s care, and all sorts of adventures begin…

The Lives of Christopher Chant

this book explores the childhood of the enigmatic and elegant Chrestomanci, a powerful, nine-lived enchanter introduced in Charmed Life. Here, he is simply Christopher, a child neglected by his self-consumed parents who has the ability to walk into a new world in his dreams. Actually, several worlds. Soon is becomes apparent that there is more to Christopher's abilities than that, after he dies. Several times. He is whisked into a world of conspiracy and adventure, populated by colorful and memorable characters. While Jones plays with fantasy tropes as deftly as a Rowling, her heart is more playful, even as her knowledge is displayed more deeply. Poetry, myth, history, literature... everything that Jones can get her hands on is thrown into the mushpot, and woven into the fabric of the Chrestomanci mythos.

Conrad's Fate

Conrad's Fate is the story of Conrad Tesdinic, who is told by his uncle that he has bad karma, because he's neglected to kill someone he should've killed in a previous life. He is sent up to work at Stallery Mansion, where this person he has to kill supposedly lives. All he has is the promise that he will know who to kill when he meets this person, and a way to call a Walker who will provide him with what he needs to do the killing. But it's not as easy as it sounds, the world is very magical and some especially big magic seems to be happening at Stallery Mansion, most obviously the probability shifts that keep taking place, in which new probabilities suddenly come into place and everything changes..

Witch Week

The premise of the story is that Nan and her classmates exist in a world where witchcraft is punishable by death but where magic undeniably exists. When it is suggested that someone in class 2Y is a witch, the ball starts rolling that inevitably leads to a literal witch-hunt, in which not only Nan but several other students are put under suspicion. Add to that the tedium of lessons, the institutionalised bullying and the sense of control slipping away, and we have the inevitable conflicts that drive the story forward towards its denouement and final resolution. Along the way we have Jones’ confident handling of themes, personalities and atmosphere that makes her writing such a joy to read, not to mention the puns and other examples of humour that contrast with the fear that grips the heart when witch-burnings are mentioned.

The Magicians of Caprona

The Magicians of Caprona takes place in an alternate dimension in which magic is openly practiced and where the various city-states of Italy never united. Caprona is a fairly powerful city that appears to be on the decline, for obscure and possibly sinister and magical reasons. perhaps the city's archnemesis "The White Devil" is to blame; perhaps the long, long rivalry between the two major magical houses of Casa Montana and Casa Petrocchi is only making matters worse. we see this absorbing little world through the eyes of two of the youngest of the Montanas, Tonino and Paolo. the two boys manage to be entirely charming without being even slighly cloying. there is not of whiff of preciousness to be found in the novel.

The Pinhoe Egg

Cat has gained more self confidence since Charmed Life, but in trying to figure out what sort of Chrestomanci he could be, he still has a lot to figure out, especially when he’d rather ride a horse all day than take responsibility. And Marianne, well. She just doesn’t know how special she is.

Their story is set against a whimsical tale stuffed with gryphons and unicorns, but offset by rather dark themes of unquestioning loyalty and family secrets. In spite of the fun, Jones proves once again she is not above exploring the darker side of the world through the lighter side of magic, and the story is filled with momentous set pieces of scenes that stick in the mind like molasses.

Chrestomanci 6 Books Collection by Diana Wynne Jones is about sci-fi fantasy world of magic and adventure.  Like every book by Diana Wynne Jones, it bubbles with invention, and as the story unfolds the people in it grow and change with all the surprisingness of real life. The chrestomanci series is chock-full of timeless, fantasy element that appeals to both young and old alike. Diana wynne jones is fast becoming one of favorite fantasy authors ever because of her style of prose and unique storylines.

Enid Blyton Fun Collection of The Naughtiest Girl 10 Books Set

The Naughtiest Girl 10 Books Set Enid Blyton
Titles with description in this set:

Naughtiest Girl in the School

The Naughtiest Girl in the School is the first book in Enid Blyton's series about Elizabeth Allen, an extremely selfish and spoilt little girl. Elizabeth is so naughty that her parents opt to send her to boarding school in the hope that she will enjoy meeting new children and become the happy child they would like her to be. However, Elizabeth has very different ideas and is determined to behave so badly that she gets sent home. She soon finds that being naughty isn't as easy as she thought and begins to make friends.

Naughtiest Girl Again

This book tells the story of Elizabeth feud with Robert, and the story of how she became so hated Jenny and Elizabeth but then because of an event that is very surprising and happy for her-because she had the opportunity to change with the help of all his friends in Whyteleafe-she can turn into a girl jolly with the sweet dimples.

Naughtiest Girl Is a Monitor

This semester, Elizabeth's still was struggling to shake the title 'The Naughtiest Girl' off her. She's a monitor now, so she must behave even better! But things are not so easy, because there are new students that can make Elizabeth's semester another hell: one of them is Julian, the green-eyed boy who is one of the most fascinating characters boarding school series have ever known. As a young girl I was in love with Julian. How can't one?

Here's the Naughtiest Girl

It's the summer term and the children are all back at school. There's Elizabeth, of course, and her good friends — Julian Holland (which distinguishes him from the adventuresome Kirrin adventurer who bears the same first-name) and John who loves to garden. Rosemary is back and Harry who was helped considerably with certain problems during his first term at Whyteleafe School. The rest of the students are also back and raring to go.

Naughtiest Girl Keeps a Secret

Elizabeth promises her friend John not to tell anyone he is entering a gardening competition. This rather thin premise (Why would anyone care that he has entered? Everyone knows he is the best gardener in the school!) Gives rise to difficulties when Elizabeth is believed to be a troublemaker again, but cannot clear herself without betraying John's secret. She ends up feeling triumphant that she survives the crisis without telling anyone, but in the meantime she has hurt the feelings of another friend.

Naughtiest Girl Helps a Friend

How can the naughtiest girl be good at camp with horrible Arabella in the very same tent? Especially when she's busy stirring up trouble for Elizabeth's best friend, Joan...

Naughtiest Girl Saves the Day

When some school strawberry plants are vandalised, a lost shoe buckle at the scene of the crime leads straight to the Naughtiest Girl. It is hers, but how did it get there - and why would anyone want to pin the blame on Elizabeth?

Well Done Naughtiest Girl

Elizabeth is desperate to play the piano in the end of school concert. But only one girl can be chosen and her rival Arabella is practising hard! So, ignoring her looming exams, Elizabeth spends every waking minute practising. When Arabella is still chosen over her, she realises that not only will she not have a place in the school concert; she might well also fail all her exams. Racing to get her revision done, she finds a quiet spot in an old oak tree in the school grounds. When Elizabeth realises the tree is marked as one to be chopped down, she's determined not to let it happen. But can she save the tree AND manage to pass all her exams? It's going to be a fight to the finish...

Naughtiest Girl Wants To Win

Elizabeth is furious when a girl new to the sixth form becomes head girl ahead of the obvious choice, Emma. The new head girl, Kerry, is a young actress, and Elizabeth is convinced that all the seniors have been swayed by her acting skills, both on screen and at school. She knows the real Kerry is a nasty piece of work - but how can she prove it? She's determined to try and starts a campaign to replace Kerry with Emma. But Kerry is cleverer than Elizabeth thinks, and somehow she just manages to make the Naughtiest Girl look like a troublemaker.

The Naughtiest Girl Marches On

Elizabeth is overjoyed to be appointed monitor again, especially when the new head-boy and girl have such exciting ideas. But one of the second form boys is slowly turning all the other boys against her, starting with a nasty note in her desk and ending with a false tip-off about a midnight pillow fight in the boys' dormitory. Rather than report it, Elizabeth plans to investigate - and, with the help of some friends, unleash a surprise water pistol attack on the boys. But Elizabeth has been set up, as she discovers when she runs straight into their form teacher and the head boy - mistakenly squirting them both with water. Now, Elizabeth is in trouble again - and she could lose her prized monitor's role. Can she find out who has a grudge against her - and why?

The Naughtiest Girl Collection of 10 Books by Enid Blyton is a lovely fun series for kids as well as adults. Elizabeth the naughtiest girl learns and faces the challenges through various events happening around her.
