Passion Flower (2003) is about a girl named Stephanie (or nicknamed Passion Flower) and her sister. Stephanie’s Dad goes off and does something which really puts Stephanie’s mum off, and Stephanie’s Mum decides she can no longer stand her husband so they split up. Soon it’s summer vacation and Stephanie’s Mum goes off to Spain to have fun in the sun whilst the girls are stuck with their Dad in Brighton. Steph has a lot of fun, but as the holidays go on the happy memories fade away and Stephanie and Samantha start to get worried.
Pumpkin Pie (2002) is about a girl with a gorgeus, popular sister and a brainy brother and basically she feels left out. She goes through a time of felling frumpy and having an eating disorder but in the end she realises to have faith in your looks and have faith in yourselves as you can be what you want to be no matter who you are.
Skinny Melon and Me (1996) is about 11 years old Cherry is finding life very difficult. Her English teacher has suggested that her class keep diaries and this is the form in which we hear about Cherry’s daily upheavals; her friendship with Melanie Skinner, the Skinny Melon of the title, her battle with the appalling quality of school food, her desperate wish for a dog but mostly her incomprehension as to what her mother can possibly see in her new husband, Roland Butter or ‘Slime.’
