Descriptions

The Brilliant World of Tom Gates
Tom Gates is the master of excuses for late homework: dog attacks spilt water – lightning. Tom’s exercise book is full of his doodles, cartoons and thoughts, as well as comments from his long-suffering teacher, Mr Fullerton. After gaining five merits for his CAMPING SUCKS holiday story, Tom’s work starts to go downhill  which is a pity, as he’s desperate to impress Amy Porter, who sits next to him.

Excellent Excuses (And Other Good Stuff)
No school for two whole weeks! (Yeah!) I can forget ALL about lessons (and irritating things like Marcus Meldrew). And concentrate on good stuff like: Inventing new ways to annoy my sister Delia. (So many). Band practice for DOGZOMBIES (with my mate Derek). Watching TV and eating caramel wafers. Eating caramel wafers and watching TV. Excellent. Unfortunately a couple of small problems.

 Everything’s Amazing (sort of)
Back to school, but it’s not all bad. We’re entering Rooster in a dog show, the School Disco and my birthday are coming up so this term’s going to be amazing! Mostly because Delia’s not invited to do any of these. There’s only one small problem with my birthday, Granny Mavis says she’s going to cook . . . uh oh!

 Genius Ideas (Mostly)
Seeing Delia without her sunglasses on is a BIG shock for Tom, but that’s nothing compared with the surprise that Dad has in store with his new-found fitness regime! He says he’s going to compete at the school Sports Day. Can you even imagine the horrendous shame that will bring? Meanwhile Tom, Derek and Norman are also busy with a training regime of their own – practicing with Dogzombies to make sure they’re ready for the school talent show. The highs and lows of Tom’s life are funnier and more extreme than ever in this fourth wicked diary from the Roald Dahl Funny Prize winning series!

Best Book Day Ever! (So far)
This is crammed with Tom’s stories and doodles. “It’s BOOK WEEK in Oakfield school and EVERYONE is very excited. Including all the teachers, who are making costumes of their own. Mr Keen says there’s an EXCELLENT prize on offer for BEST costumes worn on BOOK DAY. So suddenly making a good costume is VITALLY important, but tricky and Delia’s not much help (as usual). Then Marcus decides that HE is a super hero and can’t understand why ‘Super Marcus’ isn’t the best name.
